The guitar has surprised me. It is oddly satisfying to hear music plucked from those strings. It’s satisfying to feel a sense of accomplishment. It’s satisfying to feel what’s seems impossible become possible just with practice. I’m surprised it took me so long to try it, and then not. I think I wasn’t patient enough to learn at any other time in my life. It’s only the quietness of the moment that makes learning a new instrument possible. It reminds me that maybe things happen just when they are supposed to, in spite of every effort to control the timing.
We’re now off to see The Muppets. I hope it turns out to be as satisfying as spending the next two hours with the guitar.
